The original Metzger honey dough is "cooked" exclusively with honey from Austria and stored raw for over half a year. This allows the dough to mature naturally before it is processed into Lebkuchen with only spices and without the addition of eggs, fat, preservatives, or flavorings.
The honey in the dough makes the Lebkuchen particularly long-lasting. If the Lebkuchen becomes dry, Oma Metzger recommends placing it in a tin overnight with a sliced apple.
Metzger Lebkuchen pralines are filled exclusively with high-quality Lübeck marzipan containing 52% almonds. The particularly delicious roasted marzipan filling for Metzger Lebkuchen consists exclusively of almonds from the Mediterranean region.
The high-quality chocolate coatings enchant with an intense chocolate flavor and combine perfectly with the Lebkuchen and fillings. The chocolate is made only with cocoa butter without the addition of foreign fats and refined with natural Bourbon vanilla.
