The original Metzger honey dough is exclusively "cooked" with honey from Austria and stored in its raw state for over half a year. This allows the dough to mature naturally before it is processed into Lebkuchen with only spices and without the addition of eggs, fat, preservatives or flavourings.
The honey in the dough makes the Lebkuchen particularly long-lasting. If the Lebkuchen becomes dry, Oma Metzger recommends placing it in a container overnight with a sliced apple.
Metzger Lebkuchen pralines are exclusively filled with premium Lübeck marzipan containing 52% almonds. The particularly delicious roasted marzipan paste used for Metzger Lebkuchen is made exclusively from almonds from the Mediterranean region.
The premium chocolate coatings delight with an intense chocolate flavour and combine perfectly with the Lebkuchen and fillings. The chocolate is made exclusively with cocoa butter without the addition of any other fats and refined with natural Bourbon vanilla.
