A classic for the Advent season: Our fruit bread Lebkuchen combines juicy fruit, crunchy nuts and matured honey dough in one piece. It is ideal for afternoon coffee, on the Christmas platter or as a gift for anyone who likes it fruity – baked according to the traditional Metzger recipe, Lebkuchen tradition since 1685.
A Lebkuchen dream of figs, dates, walnuts, hazelnuts and matured Lebkuchen dough baked together in logs, cut into bite-sized pieces.
The original Metzger honey dough is "cooked" exclusively with honey from Austria and stored raw for over half a year. This allows the dough to mature naturally, until it is processed into Lebkuchen with only spices, without the addition of eggs, fat, preservatives and flavorings.
Thanks to the honey in the dough, the Lebkuchen has a particularly long shelf life. If the Lebkuchen becomes dry, Grandma Metzger recommends: put it in a container overnight with a cut apple.
