Aranzini Lebkuchen is small, particularly delicate pieces of Lebkuchen baked with aranzini—dried and candied orange peel—in the dough. This gives the Lebkuchen an extra hint of orange and additional sweetness! The Lebkuchen is enriched with almonds and hazelnuts by hand and glazed with sugar at the end.
Aranzini Lebkuchen pairs particularly well with a hot cup of tea, a dry wine, or even whisky!
The original Metzger honey dough is "cooked" exclusively with honey from Austria and stored in its raw state for over half a year. This allows the dough to mature naturally until it is processed into Lebkuchen with only spices and without the addition of eggs, fat, preservatives, or flavorings.
Thanks to the honey in the dough, the Lebkuchen has a particularly long shelf life. If the Lebkuchen becomes dry, Oma Metzger recommends placing it in a container overnight with a sliced apple.
