For the grandma who always has a listening ear and a cookie tin ready: Our “Best Grandma” Lebkuchen heart is a loving thank-you for a birthday, Mother’s Day, or a visit. The design is printed on fine fondant and placed on a moist heart made from original Metzger honey Lebkuchen – baked according to the traditional Metzger recipe – Lebkuchen tradition since 1685.
The original Metzger honey dough is “cooked” exclusively with honey from Austria and stored in its raw state for over half a year. This allows the dough to mature naturally before it is processed into Lebkuchen with only spices and without the addition of eggs, fat, preservatives, or flavorings.
Thanks to the honey in the dough, the Lebkuchen has a particularly long shelf life. If the Lebkuchen becomes dry, Oma Metzger recommends placing it in a tin overnight with a sliced apple.
